The Avon Grove School District contracts
with Austill’s
Rehabilitation Services, Inc. to provide Occupational Therapy
and Physical Therapy evaluation, treatment and consultation
services. Austill’s Rehabilitation Services has been
providing school-based therapy services to southeastern
Pennsylvania since 1984.
Austill’s Pediatric Management Team is composed of
numerous Pediatric Coordinators, all therapists averaging
over 20 years of expertise each. Austill’s High Quality
staff includes over 300 Occupational Therapists, Physical
Therapists and Speech Language Clinicians.
Occupational Therapy (OT) and Physical Therapy (PT) have
been included, as related services, in school districts
since 1975. The role of the Occupational Therapist and
Physical Therapist is to facilitate educational access;
thus our school-based therapists concentrated on issues
that impact our students’ ability to be successful
in the school environment.
School-based Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy
can include evaluation, treatment and consultation with
members of the student’s educational team, if issues
are affecting the performance of a student in the educational
setting.
OT areas of involvement can include fine motor skills,
hand performance, visual motor and visual perceptual skills,
sensory processing skills, functional daily living activities,
attention and organizational skills as they relate to a
student’s school performance.
PT involvement areas can include mobility skills, ambulation,
balance, coordination, gross motor skills and neuromotor
status including joint flexibility, muscle tone, strength
and endurance that impact a student’s performance
in the school environment.
Both OT and PT consult with the educational team, facilitating
integrated service delivery systems.
